    • C. Michael Hirsh, 54, of 267 Huckleberry Lane in New Market, died Friday, March 26, 2004, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, where he had been a patient since Wednesday.

      Mr. Hirsh was born July 27, 1949, in Quicksburg, and was the son of the late Charles and Jewell Smouse Hirsh.

      He was a 1968 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic most of his life.

      Mr. Hirsh was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 4264 of New Market and was the grand worthy conductor for the state Aerie. He was the current president of the New Market Chapter and was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American Legion.

      On Oct. 31, 1968, he married the former Amy Maxine Schultz, who survives.

      In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Hirsh and Michael Hirsh, both of New Market; two brothers, Glen Hirsh of Mount Jackson and Michael Hirsh of Chantilly; four sisters, Suzanne Miller of Broadway, Lynn Ryan of Mount Jackson, and Evelyn Burner and Kathy Campbell, both of New Market and four grandchildren.

      A gathering of family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Market.
