  JOHNSON BARBARA NEWMYER JOHNSON 1947 - 2010 A lifelong resident of Washington, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Washington Hospital Center following complications from a stroke. She was 63 years old. She graduated from the Sidwell Friends School in 1965 and subsequently attended Smith College and George Washington University. In the 1970s, she was a staff assistant and writer on the Metro Section of the Washington Post. She then worked at CBS, Inc., where she met her husband, Mark W. Johnson, who predeceased her in 2005. During the 1990s, she was an editor for several local parenting publications. In recent years she was an invaluable volunteer at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at American University, where she was a student, teacher, and indefatigable editor of the OLLI Newsletter. Survivors include her adoring children, Emily Johnson Rogers (Eric) of Bethesda, MD and Evan Johnson (Eugenie Brinkema) of Arlington, MA; her loving brother, A.G. Newmyer III (Tara); three nieces and one nephew; and her devoted aunts and uncle, Virginia and James Newmyer and Clare West.
