- Jean Heller Strauss, 97, a fourth generation Chicagoan born March 12, 1914, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She remained an avid exerciser throughout her entire life while also having a great love and appreciation for American History, the Arts and Nature. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Herman A. Strauss who practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology for 50 years and co-founded Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital; devoted mother of Dr. John Herman Strauss (Carolyn) and Helen Strauss Palmquist (Jerry); twin sister of the late James R. Heller (Marybeth); loving aunt of Carolyn Lerman, Helen Stern, Ivan Strauss, Margot Parke, Marilyn Stern, Mary Capobianchi, Kathy Dahan and John Heller; and cherished grandmother of Brian Palmquist, John Palmquist, Leslie Strauss and Michael Strauss.
