- On Sunday, March 21, 2004, in Sarasota, FL. A long-time resident of Bethesda, MD; he was born May 12, 1924 in Rochester, NY. A 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, from 1943-46, he flew over 20 missions as a navigator on C109 transport aircraft crossing the Himalayas to deliver fuel from India to B29 bombers in China. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Rochester in 1949 and from Georgetown Law School in 1953, serving as Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. He co-founded the prominent law firm of LeBlanc & Shur, where he practiced for over 20 years and was noted for compassion to his employees and the provision of excellent health insurance as early as the 1960's. He chaired the Patent Law Department at Georgetown Law School, where he taught as an adjunct professor for 14 years. He authored the text, Patent Misuse and Antitrust. In 1992, Mr. Shur retired to Boca Raton, FL, then relocated to Sarasota in 2001. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Esther, son Ralph Shur (Gail) of Germantown, MD, daughter Deborah Shur Trinker (Steve) of Ridgefield, CT; and granddaughters Lauren and Allison Trinker, and Melanie Shur. He also leaves three sisters: Pearl Schwartz (the late Morse), Rosalind Kosoff (Harold), and Florence Shulman (the late Leonard), and numerous nieces and nephews.
