  THOMAS ROBERT LOBER, a gentle soul, born on May 5, 1959, passed away November 8, 2009, after a brief illness. He was a beloved Father, Son, Brother and Uncle. Tom is survived by his children, Amy and David Lober; his mother, Claire Lober; his brother, James Lober and wife, Melinda, and their children Courtney and Peter Holcomb and Eric Schmidt; sister, Margaret Sweeney and her husband, Peyton; sister, Susan Parent and her children Robert and Nathan; his Uncle and Aunt, James and Lois Lober; numerous caring cousins; and ex-wife and very good friend Lisa Hardcastle and her husband, Bob. He was pre-deceased by his father, Robert Toch Lober.Tom is a graduate of Texas A & M Maritime Academy and received his Master of Marine Science from Maine Maritime Academy. For several years he worked with his father in the offshore marine industry at State Boat Corporation. In 1992, he founded Star Fleet Entertainment Yachts, the first major commercial entertainment vessel enterprise on Galveston Bay. Star Fleet operates a fleet of five vessels for private and corporate charter and public cruises from its marina in Kemah, Texas. Tom was actively involved in the promotion and development of the Clear Lake Area.Tom had a zest for life and enthusiasm for learning new things and meeting new people. He was famous for his sushi parties, cooking large quantities of food and exciting travel. He traveled extensively with David and Amy, including trips to Asia, Europe, the Bahamas and Australia. During his last days, the family was comforted in knowing that Tom had a full life, and had, in fact, completed his bucket list.Tom was a wonderful boss and business leader. Star Fleet employees sent many sentimental letters to his family expressing their love for him. He was actively involved with the Vistage Group of business associates. With them he worked to expand and develop his business, and also supported his fellow group members in the business challenges they faced.
