- Shirley F. Cohen, 86, of New Scotland Road in Albany, died Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009, at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Manhattan and moved to Averill Park, NY, in 1940, later moving to Albany. She had been employed as a senior personnel administrator for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, retiring in 1989. She was a former member of Temple Israel in Albany. Shirley had been a member of B'nai B'rith as well as their bowling league. She also taught mahjong and Yiddish at the Massry Center as well as the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center. Shirley was married to Nathan Cohen until his passing in 1998. Loving mother of Ted Cohen of Albany, NY, and Anita (Allen) Frank of Liverpool, NY; sister of Sheldon Feuer (Mary Lou) of Detroit, Michigan; cherished grandmother of Lee Frank and his wife Abbie of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Andrea Drapeau and her husband Stephen of Baldwinsville, NY; great-grandmother of Emily and Isaac Frank.
