  • Notes
    • MADISON - Frances Braune, age 99, of Madison, died on June 22, 2016, at Capitol Lakes Terraces. She was born Feb. 23, 1917, to Emanuel and Rebecca Mall, and enjoyed a happy childhood in Harrisburg, Pa. She married Milton Braune on Jan. 1, 1942, and they shared 65 loving years together, raising their family in Philadelphia, Pa., and Baltimore, Md. In 2011, four years after Milt's death, Fran moved to Capitol Lakes Retirement Community in Madison to be closer to family.

Fran was a warm and friendly person, who loved nothing more than sharing the company of friends and family. She was the aunt who always remembered to send a card whatever the occasion. She gave unconditional love to her nieces and nephews, siblings, daughters and son-in-law, Tod, who she often said was more like a son, and it went both ways. Fran was active in the Sisterhood of her Baltimore synagogue for many years, loved to play mah jongg, and with her husband Milt enjoyed square dancing and travel.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Crispell of Woodstock, N.Y., and Joan Braune (Tod Highsmith) of Madison, Wis.; her brother, Irving Mall of Lancaster, Pa.; and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton; and sisters, Ruth and Bernice.

A private memorial service was held at Sol Levinson & Bros. Funeral Home in Baltimore, Md., on June 26, 2016, and was attended by family from seven states, a testament to the deep love they felt for Fran. She was interred next to her husband at the Oheb Shalom Memorial Park in Reisterstown, Md.
