  The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Robert C. Bender, age 78, of Homosassa, will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Cremation will be under the direction of Hooper Crematory, Inverness. Those who wish may send memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com He was born December 18, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, Son of the late Otto and Hedwig (Heller) Bender. He died Sunday, November 16, 2008, in Homosassa. He was an Army veteran serving during Korea. He worked as a salesman and decorator for Bloomingdales for 25 years before retiring. He moved to Homosassa from Farmingdale, LI, NY in 1989. Mr. Bender enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening, and painting with water color. Mr. Bender was preceded in death by his wife, Lenore Bender (1994). Survivors include his Son, Steven (Tina) Bender of Homosassa; 2 daughters, Sharon (Edward) Pecan of Crystal River and Laurie (Tom) Speros of Inverness; Sister, Carol (Spencer) Nussbaum of Del Ray; 7 grandchildren, Alison Schriro, George Speros, Elizabeth Stephonson, David Pecan, Frances Speros, Julia Speros, and Ryan Bender, and special friend and companion, Cleora Moshier.
