  Harold Lee Johnson Sr., 85, of Harrisonburg, Va., passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011, from cardiac complications. He was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Saginaw, Mich., to Joseph Russel Johnson and Arvilla Stielow Johnson. After serving two tours of duty during World War II in the European theater, Harold and his bride, Alice, settled in Saginaw, Mich. There he owned a heating and air conditioning business, and they raised a close family. Harold and his wife relocated to Harrisonburg, Va., in 1980. He retired from Excel Heating and Cooling in 1995. Harold's hobbies included gardening, collecting and restoring antiques, history, and reading. Being especially proud of his military service, he enjoyed sharing stories of his World War II experiences. Predeceased by brother, Robert Dale Johnson, and sister, Jane Johnson Walton, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Gertrude Hirsh Johnson; four children, Patricia Lee Burnside (husband, Gordon), Barbara Arvilla Paciotti (husband, Joseph), Jackie Sue Johnson, Harold Lee Johnson Jr. (wife, Genevieve); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
