      Shoshanah Lipis Winer, 84, a noted educator and leader in the women's community of the Jewish Conservative Movement, died Thursday in Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

      A North Side resident, Mrs. Winer traveled extensively to promote Jewish studies and family values through lectures and seminars.

      Along with her husband, Louis, she was involved in educational work through the Ramah Commission. Mrs. Winer was active in developing summer camps to encourage youngsters to learn Hebrew and study religion.

      The couple also supported and were active in the Solomon Schechter Day Schools on the North Shore, which they helped expand from 30 students to more than 1,000 in three schools.

      In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Leah Steuer and Rinah Sheleff; two sisters, Lillian Levin and Frances Rogozen; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

      Services will be held at noon Sunday in North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park. Burial will be in Shalom Memorial Park, Rand Road and Illinois 53, Palatine
