Henle, Jeanne Ann Arbor, MI Age 93 died Friday, October 17, 2003. She was born December 10, 1909 in Detroit, MI. She grew up in Elk Rapids and East Lan sing. Jeanne graduated from the University of Michigan. She was united in marriage to Paul Henle, who was a Professor of Philosophy at UofM; he pre ceded her in death in 1962. She was a librarian at EMU in the cataloging department; she was the founder and head of the first bargaining committee for the faculty union AAUP at EMU. Jeanne volunteered for the Michigan Legal Services in Ann Arbor. She was an active sup porter of the Democratic Party, a supporter of the arts especial ly the Detroit Institute of Art, and she instituted the Ellen LaForge Poetry Foundation in Cambridge, MA in association with the Grolier Bookstore. Jeanne was also an avid reader and Detroit Tigers fan. She is survived by her sons, John (Toni) Henle of Oak Park, IL, and Jim Henle of Cambridge, MA; grandchildren, Crystal Henle of Oakland, CA, and Mark Henle of Santa Barbara, CA; sister, Jenna Glickstein of New York City; niece, Lynn Shane of California, and other nieces and nephews. Due to her wishes cremation has taken place.
