  • Notes
    • Eda (Katz) Rabinovitz, 85, died peacefully at her home in Winthrop, Massachusetts, Saturday, December 3, 2016.

She was born and grew up in Boston, went to Hebrew College in Brookline, MA to get her teaching certificate, and much later in life went back to college for her Master's Degree in Education at Lesley College.

Eda was passionate about the arts. She was an actress, first with the Winthrop Playmakers and then later with different theaters in Boston. She sang and danced in musical theater, played the guitar, loved folk and Jewish spiritual music, and Gilbert and Sullivan.

Eda was devoted to family. In addition to her three children and four grandchildren, she had a very large extended family, most of whom were often at the Winthrop house for family gatherings hosted by Eda and her husband Leo. We all have wonderful memories of these family affairs.

She was an avid and excellent cook, who was often heard to exclaim, "This is a really nice piece of fish".

Eda loved to travel with Leo, especially going to places with family like Israel, Mexico, Japan, and Russia.

She will be missed for her fierce spirit, social nature, and uncompromising values.

Eda is survived by her husband of 64 years Leo Rabinovitz; children David Rabinovitz, Debby Rabinovitz, and Dodi Perkins; spouses Jordene Hale, Chris Pringle, and Peter Perkins; and grandchildren Sophia Rabinovitz, Chana Rose Rabinovitz, Mati Pringle Rabinovitz, and Kyla Perkins.

Sister of Jeanette Zaichik, Bernice Jones, and the late Tybie Weisbord, Lillian Katz, Tamar Schecter, Bunnie Levin, Moishie Katz, Gillie Katz, and Jake Katz.
