- BIRNBAUM--Gerald "Jerry", who lived a full and joyous life, passed away on March 12, 2015. He was born on April 14, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Hilda (Jacobson) and Louis Birnbaum. He is survived by his beloved wife, Florence; three sons, Howard (Helayne), Lloyd (Julia), and Jeffrey (Ariel); and 11 grandchildren. His only sibling, Murray, preceded him in death. He graduated from City College of New York with a degree in Business. During WW II, he served in US Army Corps Intelligence and marched triumphantly down the Champs Elysee on V-E Day. Designated as a "Liberator," Jerry witnessed the atrocities at Buchenwald and was present at its liberation. His happiest moments were spent with his family. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He will be missed.
