  3C1R to Myra thru Virginia Hecht Charles L. Pincus Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Charles Lowenberg Pincus Jr., 92, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family July 23, 2008, in Virginia Beach. Charlie was born in Norfolk to Charles L. Pincus and Clara Goodman Pincus May 11, 1916. He was a major contributor and lifelong resident of Tidewater throughout his life. Charlie was a Boy Scout achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, camp counselor and lifeguard in his youth. He graduated from Maury High School and briefly attended The College of William and Mary before entering the U.S. Army during World War II. He bravely served his country in the Army Corp of Engineers and retired as a lieutenant colonel. Upon retiring from the military, Charlie founded C.L. Pincus Jr. and Co. Inc. in 1948 and quickly became one of the largest utility and building contractors in the Tidewater area. His work extended from the Virginia Beach area to the Northern Neck. Throughout his career, Charlie maintained a reputation as a quality builder and expert in the construction industry. Until only recently, Charlie maintained his presence in the company which will continue to be operated by his wife Jane and son Stephen. Charlie will be remembered for his dedication to his family, work and his customers many of whom became friends. Charlie also enjoyed golf, boating and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Charlie was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor D. Karpe of Chevy Chase, Md. To cherish his memory he leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Jane F. Pincus; his daughters, Nancy P. Pasqualino and her husband Renato, Jeanne P. Shermerhorn and her husband Gary and Teri L. Pincus; sons, Charles L. Pincus III and his wife Cindy, Stephen M. Pincus and Arthur H. Bond and his wife Gail, all of Virginia Beach. He also had six grandchildren he affectionately loved, Barbara, Mary, Dale, Lillian, Jacob and Tucker; as well as two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Ava. Other family members include his niece Eleanor K. Shutak of Rockville, Md., and nephew, Richard D. Karpe of Las Lunas, N.M.
