- HARMON BAYER, 81, of West Bloomfield, died July 23, 2001. A self-employed chemical engineer, he was recognized for his devoted service to the American Zionist Movement-Michigan Region. Mr. Bayer was a past president of Parents for North American Israelis, a founding and charter member of American Society for Quality Control (ASQC), a fellow for the American Association for Advancement of Science in 1964. He was listed in Library of Congress as a prominent engineer in 1975, listed in Who's Who as a top engineer and was recognized for outstanding contributions at Hechtman Apartments. Mr. Harmon is survived by his wife, Adele; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Hanna Bayer of Israel, Charles Bayer of Oak Park and Gerald and Jan Bayer of Oak Park; daughter and son-in-law, Irene Bayer and Garrett Schwinghamer of Ann Arbor; grandchildren Tali and Yan Tupilsky, Havi and Max Derhy, Shiri and Benny Hoffman, Karen Bayer, Roey Bayer, Jacob Bayer, Laura Bayer, Julia Bayer, Lee Schwinghamer and Karl Schwinghamer; great-grandchildren, Ido and Hagar Tupilsky and Emmy Derhy.
