      A LONGTIME VOLUNTEER, 90 Yetta Berenson Arost , 90, died Saturday of a stroke at the Bala Nursing Home. She formerly lived in Wynnefield Heights.

      Throughout her life, Mrs. Arost got directly involved in doing for others. During World War II, she stored clothing, medicines and foods for European refugees in her home in West Philadelphia.

      Later, she and her husband, Oscar, who died 25 years ago, opened their home to serve as foster parents for survivors of the Holocaust. The first of the foster children, 17-year-old Ella, was adopted by the Arosts.

      She was a former president of her local chapters of the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children and the American Jewish Congress. She was a member of the Fellowship Commission, American ORT and Hadassah.

      Surviving are her daughters, Ella Friedman Mizne, Molly Staub and Lenore Sherman; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
