Notes |
- LOTTMAN--Eileen, age 85, passed away at home in New York on June 7. Born in Minneapolis, she grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa Writers Workshop. She began her career in New York with publicist Lois Smith, becoming publicity director and then editor at major publishing houses including Putnam, Dell, and Bantam before turning to writing full-time. Eileen was the author of 23 novels including After the Wind (1979), The Brahmins (1982), and She and I (1991). A lifelong advocate for free speech and social justice, she also loved animals and supported animal rights. Her husband of more than 40 years, noted film editor Evan Lottman, and daughter Jessica Lottman both predeceased her; she is survived by loving friends who feel deeply the loss of her humor, honesty and companionship
