- Moses Oppenheimer married Mary E. Stoyell on 18 Aug 1891 in Manhattan NY at the bride's Aunt Frances (Mitchell) Roger's home with a "Ceremony of the Friends". Mary was the orphan daughter of Reuben Smith Stoyell of Moravia NY (Abt. 1819-1864) and Jane Gaston (Mitchell) Stoyell (Abt. 1821-1864) of Milan NY who both died of disease within a week of each other in Portage WI in 1864. Mary was born in Mar 1857 in Portage WI and her Aunt Frances "Fanny" adopted her and took her to Plainfield NJ where she graduated from Vassar and took a trip to Europe after graduation in 1877.
She was then hired to oversee NY State's Orphan Asylums and was very active in the US feminist & suffrage movements, having wrote many articles on the same in newspapers and magazines.
